October 1941, the Moscow region. Around three and a half thousand cadets from the Podolsk Artillery and Infantry Schools receive an order: take up defensive positions on the Ilyinsky line and, in concert with the regular units of the 43rd Army, hold back the relentless advance of the Nazi invaders until reinforcements can arrive. These young men, barely out of childhood, face the overwhelming might of the German forces. For twelve long days, they become an unyielding barrier, standing firm against the enemy's crushing numbers, and in doing so, they delay the Nazi march towards Moscow. With every step they take in defense, lives are lost, yet their courage—unfathomable in its ferocity—stands as a testament to their resolve. The enemy, surprised by the unexpected tenacity, finds themselves momentarily halted. These boys, once carefree, now face death with a bravery that defies the odds, holding fast, in those fleeting moments, to the hope that reinforcements will come.
